Land acquisition policies in Pakistan are fragmented which is a cause of concern for local governing authorities and civilians. Many landowners have been affected by the uneven land acquisition and market value determination. Recently, the Islamabad High Court in a bid to align the land administration system of Pakistan has directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to formulate a uniform policy for land acquisition and market value calculation.

The directive by IHC was issued as a result of 35 different petitions filed by affected landowners whose lands were acquired by the CDA and Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) in different sectors of Islamabad. Most of the petitioners complained that CDA was supposed to issue compensation for acquiring their land decades ago. . However, due to slow administrative systems, the affected landowners had not been compensated. IHC claimed that this deprivation violated the constitutionally guaranteed rights of citizens and called into attention the negligence on the part of the development authority
