In a bid to promote tourism in Pakistan, the national air carrier resumed its Air safari flight from Islamabad towards the northern areas of the country after 14 years. The first flight consisted of 91 tourists from 13 different countries.
The trip was attended by the federal minister for power Hammad Azhar. According to PIA officials, the Air safari will operate on a weekly basis and the itinerary of the travel will cover 13 places. The one-and-a-half-hour flight cost Rs. 25,000 and includes a stop at Skardu airport.
This move by PIA was welcomed amongst local and foreign tourists as it will help to diversify the tourism sector of Pakistan. Tourism is a developing sector of Pakistan, if polished and developed can reap enormous economic and social benefits for the country.
