7 New Industrial Zones to Operationalise in Muhamand Economic Zone

The Government has ordered to operationalise seven newly installed industrial zones in Mohmand Economic Zone (MEZ) and construction work of 54 industries. The industrial units include the Marble industry, Oil and Markhor Ghee Mill, Calcium Carbonate Grinding Mill and Metcore Copper and Aluminium fabrications. These industrial zones will start trade activities in Mohmand which will open a new era of economic growth and prosperity in the province. These industrial units will bring an investment of Rs900 million and generate a thousand direct and indirect employment opportunities for the locals.

Mohmand Agency, referred to as Mohmand Marble City, is rich in mineral deposits and there are huge reserves of marble spreading all over the province. Approximately, 845 million tons of good quality marble deposits are available in the district. In order to process the available marble into world-class products and to promote industrialisation in the region, the Government has started the Mohmand Economic Zone project. It will present enormous opportunities for the investors by providing a  favourable environment for the dimension stone industry of Pakistan.

Industrialisation plays a vital role in the economic development of a country. Other than agriculture, industrialisation is a significant source to break the vicious circle of poverty. Industrialisation increases the quality and quantity of manufactured goods which increases the national economy of a country. Pakistan is pursuing policies that support privatisation and deregulation of the economy in order to achieve a high standard of living for its people.
