The Pakistan health care system has seen fluctuating development for many years. However, a modest development has been seen in the health sector, such as the proliferation of health policies, participation in the Millennium Development Goals program, initiation of vertical programs and introduction of Public-Private Partnership, and improvement of human resource development and infrastructure by making Basic Health Units and Rural Health Centres.

However, poor governance, lack of access and unequal resources, poor quality of Health Information Management (HIM) systems, corruption in the health system, and lack of monitoring in health policy and health planning have hindered the progress of the concerned sector.

Good health and well-being are the main agenda of the Pakistani Government. Digitising the health care sector is the need of the hour. It can improve healthcare services, including software that makes health information more accessible to patients and keeps patient data secure in one place.

Transforming the health care system to virtual areas can enable the health professionals to monitor ongoing patient health and vitals from home. Technology can also provide ways to enhance the standards of medical care facilities in rural and remote areas. It can increase the performance and responsiveness of health experts, eliminating any unnecessary delay and improving health treatment.

Introducing digitisation in the health sector has great benefits as it improves patient care. A digital health system is the future of Pakistan’s health sector. It will leverage intuitive data analysis that saves lives and streamlines operational efficiency for health services across the nation.
