The Capital Development Authority has issued 1135 notices to the housing societies occupying state land in Islamabad. These housing societies include National Police Foundation Employees Operative Housing Society, Pakistan Medical Operative Housing Society, Sohan Operative Housing Society, Central Board of Revenue (CBR) Operative Housing Society, Pakistan Working Development (PDW) Operative Housing Society and others. Furthermore, notices have also been issued to several marquesses. According to issued s by the Central Authority, the societies are directed to submit their reply within seven days. The structures will be demolished, and the government lands will be relinquished.

In Pakistan, land encroachment is quite common due to musty physical surveys and land demarcation. Recently, the government has started an anti-encroachment drive in the country to root out encroachment. Many developmental and construction projects have been declared illegal in several cities as they are built in violation of bylaws. Many housing communities have been converted into commercial outlets creating traffic hurdles.

The present government is taking steps to retrieve the land from encroachers. These efforts are also powered by the recent Supreme Court’s decision to demolish infrastructure and other buildings on land encroachment cases. According to the Prime Minister, the government cannot recover illegally occupied land from encroachers without thoroughly implementing the rules and regulations. Furthermore, these anti-encroachment drives will also attract investments from abroad as they will impart a positive sentiment regarding real estate regulations in Pakistan.
