The Capital Development Authority – CDA, Islamabad, is planning to construct two new interchange projects along with the construction of a flyover at Sihala in the pipeline. One interchange will be built at Shaheen chowk on Ninth Avenue and another one at E-11 Chowk on Khayaban-e-Iqbal Margalla Road.

The estimated cost for the E-11 project is Rs.1.42 billion and the Shaheen Chowk project is estimated at Rs. 1.47 billion. According to Chairman CDA Amer Ali, the expected duration of completion for this project will be two months since the authority does not have an issue raising funds for this project.

Recently, the CDA has been receiving lower than expected bids in their projects. Some projects have received bids lower than 30% of their calculated cost. For all the three ongoing projects, which include the P.W.D underpass, Korang bridge, and Rawal Dam interchange, the CDA has received below-estimated bids.

Apart from the above-mentioned projects, CDA is also working on several other projects worth billions of rupees. One of the most notable ones is the CDA Hospital which is expected to provide 100 bed-facility. Other construction projects include the construction of parking areas in commercial areas, bridge construction on Kayani Road to ease traffic flow in Bara Kahu. A development project for the D-12 sector, worth Rs. 1,168 million and a three-year plan for the conservation and maintenance of Margalla Hills National park.
