Globally more than 1.7 billion people have been vaccinated with every 22 out of 100 immunized. However, there is a huge gap among the different vaccination programs rolled out across countries.
A majority of the vaccines delivered have been administered in high-income countries. Only a meagre 0.3% of the total vaccines have been delivered in the low-income category of countries, proving the extent of global inequality.
Global inequality in terms of economic and social development is an unfortunate reality. This inequality also affects the mechanisms used to supply COVID-19 vaccines to prevent the global spread of this pandemic.
