Recently, Pakistan has approved the Pakistan Optical Remote Sensing Satellite (PRSS-02) project of the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) worth 27.913 billion PKR. The project will help in establishing local capacity in the field of space and satellite technology. In addition, it will also enhance the institutional capacity of Suparco to promote high-technology research and development activities in the country. Moreover, technologies like these can help Pakistan achieve self-sufficiency in satellite technologies. This is an area where Pakistan heavily relies on developed countries like the US and China.

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Wednesday also approved Rs 190.215 billion worth of projects related to road infrastructure. The Ecnec has approved the Sialkot (Sambrial)-Kharian motorway project that was submitted by the Ministry of Communication, along with the National Highway Authority (NHA). The motorway project will have six lanes and a length of 69 km.
