Footwear Exports Increase in First Quarter FY2021

There has been a considerable increase in footwear exports during the current financial year. The footwear industry is now worth USD 38.52 million, previously valued at USD 33.44 million. According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the footwear industry has posted a growth of 15.23%, with exports growing at 7.7%. The leather industry significantly complements the footwear industry which ultimately contributes to the large-scale manufacturing (LSM) sector of Pakistan.

The Pakistan Business Council (PCB) initiated a Make-in-Pakistan (MiP) program that includes a series of sector-wide studies that can help identify different impediments in improving the global competitiveness of different sectors and their respective products.

The PBC published the report called “Enhancing the Competitiveness of Pakistan’s Footwear Industry” which analyzed the products and processes involved in the knitted apparel Sector, and denim apparel sector.
