To accelerate infrastructure and energy development in Punjab, the government is planning to set up 23 small industrial estates and 13 Special Economic Zones in Punjab in a time of three years. According to Provincial Minister for Industries and Trade Mian Aslam, the government’s main aim is to transform Punjab into a hub of investment, trade, and economic activities. The announcement was made during the 35th annual general meeting of the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA).
According to the Minister, a favourable business environment will be conducive for growth in local and foreign investment in Pakistan. Moreover, he also stated that growing investments was a positive signal for Prime Ministers economic policies. Under the given policies, the Punjab government is committed to facilitating industrialists and investors for improving economic activities and increasing employment opportunities.
Besides establishing SEZs and industrial estates, the government of Punjab has taken several measures to include easy financing for payments of wages and release of outstanding tax refunds to keep the industrial activity moving.
