Under an announcement made by the information and broadcasting minister, Fawad Chaudhry, the government aims to develop the region of Southern Balochistan with a budget of 700 billion PKR. Under the development scheme, the government will provide housing and accommodation to all journalists in the region under the Naya Pakistan Housing Program (NPHP). The government also plans to set up a state-of-the-art hospital to provide quality medical facilities.

Southern Balochistan has not received substantial financial and developmental assistance in the past. However, Balochistan gained geostrategic significance under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). For CPEC to become successful, Pakistan must invest in the region for holistic and inclusive development.
