To increase awareness about the protection and preservation of Margalla hills, the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) plans to turn the Monal Restaurant into a Wildlife Educational Centre. The IWMB proposed and presented this plan to the relevant government authorities, which includes executive-level government officials and the local administration. According to the ministry of climate change, efforts are underway to restore the land of the national park illegally occupied by builders for residential and commercial purposes. The restoration of the land will improve the biodiversity of the area, promote flora and fauna, resulting in significant restoration of the previous park.

Besides the Monal restaurant, the Old Islamabad Zoo is also to be converted into a wildlife park with separate rescue centres for injured wildlife species. Both these centres will be opened to the general public as they aim to increase awareness about wildlife and encourage visitors and people in general to value the rich biodiversity of the park.
