The National Highway Authority (NHA) is in charge of developing and maintaining highways and strategic roads and providing a safe, modern, and efficient transportation system. It has vital importance in the micro and macro economy and enhances National integration by increasing the provinces’ social and economic dependency. The NHA is responsible for constructing motorways and national highways based on a Public-Private Partnership to reduce the burden on the national exchequer to make the construction of roads and their maintenance procedure transparent. The National Highway Authority (NHA) has been undergoing extensive road development projects, including bridges, flyovers, and interchanges, and is expected to increase its toll revenue from the previous administration.

Prime Minister Imran Khan lauded National Highway Authority (NHA) for cost-efficient performance on motorways construction and maintaining transparency through digitisation. The Authority is responsible for maintaining a cost of about 138% less than the previous government, generating record revenue of about 125%. The authority also freed land worth Rs 5.18 billion from encroachment. Recently, the NHA has completed work on 2000 km road projects and started work on an additional 6118 km of road networks. Furthermore, work on 3300 km road projects in Balochistan has also started. The revenue collected by NHA is being spent on constructing new and maintaining the old road networks.
