In a bid to reduce the infection rate in the country, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has placed high-level restrictions on travelers coming from 26 different countries. The NCOC has created three different categories of countries depending upon infection positivity rate.

Category A countries have lower positivity ratios and they have been exempted from the mandatory COVID-19 test upon arrival requirement. Countries in category B require a negative PCR test that must be taken 72 hours before the travel date. Lastly, Category-C countries are the restricted ones, meaning that the residents of these countries cannot travel to Pakistan without specific guidelines from NCOC.

Some of the countries that fall in category C include India, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Philippines, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Tunisia, Ecuador, and South Africa.

Pakistan’s positivity ratio has fallen below 4% and the number of COVID-19 patients admitted to hospitals have declined by 60%. The Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination, and the NCOC are directed to maximize their efforts to immunize the masses as soon as possible in order to create herd immunity against the virus.
