To facilitate bilateral trade between Pakistani and Chinese businesses, the establishment of a new e-commerce platform has been proposed. The e-commerce platform will support Pak-China trade in terms of payments and logistics of goods and services. According to Deputy Secretary Shenzhen Cross-border E-commerce Association, the association is planning the creation of a new e-commerce platform. The objective of the platform is to connect the Pakistani market to China and other regional markets as well.

In the past year, there has been an exponential increase in the e-commerce industry in Pakistan. The growth is attributed to the COVID-19 enabled lockdowns that proliferated local e-commerce startups like AirLift and Bazaar. According to the Ministry of Commerce, in the first quarter of 2021, Pakistan’s e-commerce market posted a growth of 35%.  According to a global monitoring and data analysis company NielsenQ, e-commerce traffic in Pakistan increased by more than 230% in 2021, and the market will reach $1 billion in 2021.
