The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to merge several points on the Islamabad expressway to shift partial traffic on the opposite side of the highway to reduce traffic during peak hours. The local administrative authority states that extreme traffic congestion led to severe delays and difficulties with regard to the mobility of daily commuters. The traffic from Zero point to the Koral Chowk portion of the Islamabad Expressway is a mess during evening hours. This has forced the CDA management to divert traffic on two lanes of Zero point to the Koral Chowk portion of the Islamabad Expressway. The diversion will be carried out with the help of the Islamabad Traffic Police.

The issue of traffic congestion has affected most of the highways and key transportation lines in the twin cities. The CDA and Islamabad traffic administration are trying to introduce certain structural changes in the transportation sector to make the existing commute of the daily commuters smooth and efficient.
