The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has awarded a contract of Rs 10.28 billion to construct Islamabad’s 10th Avenue to the National Logistic Cell (NLC). The 10th Avenue will be constructed in two phases. A 5-kilometre road will be constructed from I.J Principal Road near Katarian Bridge to Srinagar Highway in the first phase. The second phase will be constructed from Srinagar Highway to Margalla Road.

The development work of 10th Avenue includes a highway, underpasses at railway tracks and sectors, and an overhead bridge that will pass over Srinagar Highway. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) issued open tenders for the project, and NLC emerged as the lowest bidder. The entity is currently engaged in the IJP Road rehabilitation and expansion project worth Rs 4.9 billion.

10th Avenue is a major initiative of the incumbent government for the citizens of Islamabad, especially for the residents of I-10 and I-9, who will have direct access to IJP Road and the Srinagar highway road. It will reduce the distance between Rawalpindi and Srinagar Highway along with time consumed on travel. It will also benefit students at the educational institutes and workers of government offices located in the area. It will also provide an easy route to the Motorway.

10th Avenue is part of Islamabad’s master plan, which states that there will be a major avenue to divide the sectors after every sector.
