Prime Minister Imran Khan performed the ground-breaking ceremony of the Pakistan Digital City Special Technology Zone project in Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is Pakistan’s first technology-driven venture that aims to provide all IT related facilities in one place. The project aims to serve as a state-of-the-art facility to enable collaborations amongst academia, research, industry, and policymakers. It will strategically benefit allied industries such as electronics, software houses, mobile phone industry, technology incubators, and the computer industry in KPK. The expected cost of completion of this project is 1.31 billion USD, and it covers an area of 86 kanals.

The KPK government announced the digital city project in August last year. Besides the digital city in KPK, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the Lahore Technopolis, a special technology zone to boost Pakistan’s IT exports and generate employment in the local economy. These two projects align with the Prime Minister’s vision of a Digital Pakistan. All areas of the economy, from agriculture to real estate, have observed a technological transformation.
