The Ease of Doing Business is a governance index created by the World Bank to measure the administrative hurdles and procedures a business entity, individual, or investor has to face in a country. The index is subdivided into many indicators which helps in analyzing the business environment of a region.

Protecting minority investors is a performance indicator against which Ease of Doing Business is assessed for a particular region. The indicator includes measuring the strength of minority shareholder rights, governance safeguards, and corporate transparency requirements which can reduce the risk of abuse.

Pakistan has improved its performance on the minority investor protection indicator and also on the extent of ownership and control. These indicators measure the safeguards ensured to protect minority investors from undue control from the board of directors company. Globally Pakistan’s performance on this indicator lies in the top 30 performer countries.
