Recently the government has announced the Rawalpindi Ring Road Project which is now included in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). The project will cost Rs 23 Billion to the national exchequer. The PC-1 of the Rawalpindi Ring Road Project for land acquisition and its construction has been approved by the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP). The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) will give the final approval to the project.

The objective of this project is to improve economic connectivity and road transport efficiency in the Islamabad-Rawalpindi Metropolitan Area. It will help to alleviate the congestion in the central areas of Rawalpindi city. It will reduce the time for non-motorized traffic, public transport, and commuting vehicles. It will also reduce fuel consumption, vehicular noise, and air pollution. This will create sufficient livability, job creation, and other service or industrial facilities.

According to the inhabitants of Mira Mohra, Dhaki Kalan, and adjoining areas, the project will deprive them of commercial and agricultural lands. The locals demand that the route should be diverted and passed through barren lands and approached the Rawalpindi Division Commissioner to get their demands accepted.
