To promote sports and healthy physical activities, the Punjab government has decided to develop 360 sports grounds across the province at the village level. Currently, 105 sports grounds have been completed with the rest in the pipeline. Chief Minister Usman Buzdar presided over a performance review meeting and directed officials to resume sports competitions and tournaments as mass vaccination reduced COVID-19 infections.

Under this project, the Punjab government also prioritizes high-performance cricket, hockey and other games amongst local players. The CM highlighted that a high-performance cricket centre will be established in Faisalabad and Sialkot and a hockey stadium in Lahore. It also plans to establish an Olympic Village in 600 Kanal area, near Batapur.

According to the CM, the Punjab government is pursuing a comprehensive policy for the development of healthy sports activities that aims to maximize sports facilities for the youth. Currently, sports grounds and arenas are under development in 17 tehsils of Punjab to refine and recruit sports talent in the province.
