Imran Khan will announce the launch of the Rashakai Economic Zone in Pakistan today. Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are an integral part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The four SEZs are Rashakai M-1 SEZ, Dhabeji SEZ, Allama Iqbal Industrial City Faisalabad and Bostan Balochistan.
According to the Board of Investment (BOI), these four SEZs are estimated to generate 1.47 million jobs; 475,000 direct, and 1,000,000 indirect across the country.
The Rashakai economic zone is an important SEZ in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and almost 1000 acres of land have been acquired for its construction. The SEZ is predicted to bring in much-needed economic activity in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The SEZs in general are conducive to creating direct and indirect job opportunities in Pakistan. The Rashakai Economic Zone will include different industries including textiles, information technology, energy, and food processing sector.
