The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has announced to start the construction work of the Kutchery Chowk underpass project in January next week. The estimated cost of this project is about Rs3.8 billion. The construction work of the project includes a 1km long and two-lane wide underpass that will be able to accommodate double-decker buses. This underpass will be linked to several roads of the concerned city.

The objective of this project is to improve economic connectivity and road transport efficiency in the concerned area. It will help to ease the congestion in the central areas of the city. It will also reduce the time for commuting vehicles and will ensure smooth flow of traffic, creating sufficient livability, job creation, and other service or industrial facilities. The incumbent government will finance the project and it will be completed under the supervision of RDA.

Given the importance of infrastructure development, a recent boost in the spending on public infrastructure has been seen by the present government. Infrastructure plays an important role in the advancement of the country. Roads and inexpensive transport facilities increase faster transportation of goods and services that play an important role to boost the economy and alleviating poverty by creating job opportunities for citizens. An increase in infrastructure and road projects has a positive impact on the commercial property sector. People get attracted to areas where community facilities are being developed, resulting in increased potential for long-term capital growth and higher housing prices.
