The Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has approved developmental project schemes for 46 union councils worth Rs 2 billion starting in 6 months. In the meeting of RMC, the council chairmen have directed to review the details of schemes to ensure no bogus project is included. The local administration has also formed a committee to monitor anti-encroachment drives.

The development projects include construction of graveyards, sealed roads, and implementations to prevent water supply issues. An amount of Rs 200 million has been recommended to construct the Dhamyal Rakh graveyard on 100 Kanals of land. A resolution has also been approved against the dumping of waste material in and on the bank of nullahs. The anti-encroachment committee has been tasked to remove all temporary, permanent, and immovable encroachments and act against them with full power. The traffic jam on the city’s main arteries has become a routine in all areas of the city only because of ever-increasing encroachments.

The illegal parking mafia is a nuisance for the public as they have occupied all main roads and are looting the public with both hands. The house has also approved the removal of illegal parking spots in the city areas and stopped the corporation from collecting parking fees.
