To boost its Information Technology (IT) related exports, the government of Pakistan aims to establish software and technology parks in different commercial areas of the country. Currently, Pakistan has 22 software technology parks, which is expected to rise to 40 by December next year.
The federal minister for IT and Telecommunications, Syed Aminul Haque, recently inaugurated the Amazon Software Technology Park on GT road Islamabad. According to the minister, the incumbent government is making all-out efforts to increase technology access in small towns and cities. By establishing software and technology parks, the government aims to provide small businesses and startups with a space to grow and establish businesses, increasing economic growth and generating employment for the local economy. The government also aims to make these technology parks in the country’s remote areas to increase access to technology in the under-developed areas of the country.
