The state-run Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) plans to start 50 new health, education, and agriculture projects in Pakistan. The announcement was made on the 30th anniversary of TIKA. Currently, TIKA is working on more than 30,000 projects in 150 countries and aims to share its expertise with countries from the Balkans to Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.
Turkey aims to expand its support to developing countries like Pakistan in education, health and agriculture. Previously, TIKA established five water filtration plants in three cities of Pakistan to provide safe and clean drinking water to its residents. The organisation has strengthened the bond between Pakistan and Turkey and served itself as an outlet for Turkey to invest in different sectors of Pakistan.
TIKA also installed a 60-kilowatt solar energy panel at the Lakki Marwat District Hospital to provide energy to the region’s largest public-sector hospital. It also helped the hospital expand and establish an Emergency Department of the District Head Quarter Hospital Upper Dir in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Its investment in the under-developed region has helped generate employment and economic growth.
