Citizen facilitation centres to be functional in two months

The provision of civic facilities to the people at their doorstep is fundamental to good governance. For providing civic facilities to the citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Provincial Ministry has directed the concerned authorities to establish citizen facilitation centres and e-governance projects within the next two months. The main objective of these facilitation centres is to provide easy access to basic facilities and save time and resources of the masses.

As per the project, 19 services will be provided at the facilitation centres and online as well. As per the facilities, applications for birth, death, marriage, divorce and domicile certificates, water connection and billing, complaint management system, waste disposal and drainage clearance, building plan approval, arms licence, e-property transfer, application for trade licences, correction of land records, verification of vehicles from the manufacturing company and delivery of registration books and number plates will be made available initially.

In addition, ten more services, including applications for LTV/HTV driving licence, route permit, issuance of Istehqaq Certificate, marriage grant, registration of person with disabilities, senior citizens and transgender, wood permit, procurement of seeds and angling licence and tenant verification, will be ensured in the second phase of the project.

Also, the government is planning to launch a web and mobile application to provide basic facilities to the citizens online. Furthermore, the KP government is making efforts to go paperless to transform the government’s business environment digitally. In this context, the KP government has officially announced that the e-governance project has been completed in all respects within the stipulated time.

The government has already introduced e-bidding, e-tendering and e-billing in the provincial works departments, which has improved service delivery. To meet the challenges of the modern era, effective use of information technology is imperative. For this purpose, the provincial government has taken a number of initiatives to make good use of information technology for the facilitation of its citizens and modernise the disposal of official businesses and thus, ensuring good governance and accountability.
