Digitalisation uses technologies to transform a simple business into a digital business model and provide new revenue and value-producing opportunities through digital methods. Cloud technology has become fundamentally important for the digital transformation of businesses and public sector enterprises. It is estimated that, by 2025, almost 70% of the world’s enterprises and public sector bodies will be using cloud technology. Cloud technology involves delivering hosted services over the internet. This technology can be private or public that sells services to anyone on the internet. Cloud computing aims to provide easy, scalable access to computing resources and IT services.

Cloud technology can play a unique role in addressing digital transformation goals and strengthening small and medium enterprises (SMEs) under the government of Pakistan’s Vision 2025. Pakistan Vision 2025 is designed to represent an inspirational destination. It serves as a critical guidepost for developing an effective strategy and roadmap to reach the national goals and aspirations. One of the goals under Pakistan’s Vision 2025 is to ensure the availability of accessible, affordable, reliable, universal and high-quality IT services to the people. Such technologies also provide new opportunities for small and medium enterprises to improve operational efficiency, promote innovation, expand their market and financing channels, and facilitate remote operations during a pandemic crisis.
