Public transportation provides people with mobility and access to employment, community resources, medical care, and recreational opportunities in communities. Sound transportation spending lowers the costs of moving people and goods. This increases economic productivity, which can be measured as the output of goods and services.

Low-cost and affordable public transport is deficient in most metropolitan cities of Pakistan. A major population travels from Rawalpindi to Islamabad for various reasons such as employment and education. Being established in 2013 as an affordable transportation option, the metro system still does not cover most of the routes between the two cities. However, the recent addition of Rawat to Faizabad is predicted to help people.

The incumbent government has directed the divisional administration to start work on the metro bus service project from Rawat to Faizabad next week. The metro bus service is connected to the airport and small industries located nearby. It will improve the mobility of the local business community and ease the traffic congestion for the public.

The metro bus project was initiated in 2013 and became operational in June, 2015 to provide transport to 150,000 commuters per day. The project’s main objective is to provide a safe, efficient, and comfortable urban transportation system and reduce the growing congestion problems in the twin cities.
