construction work to start on Kalash Valley Road

Kalash is a scenic valley in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan. It is a well-preserved ethnic and cultural museum. Owing to this value, UNESCO has listed Kalasha culture for consideration as a World Heritage Site. Its culture is unique, and tourists come from around the world to see this unique beauty. Enriched with their traditional values and culture, the total population of Kalash Valley is approximately 4000 and 5000 (Dawn, 2021). However, due to its remote location and isolated cultural identity, most of its beauty is still left unseen.

In the South Asia region, Pakistan is well-known for its tourism. The country is enriched with scenic beauty with cultural and historical inheritance. The Karakoram, Hindukush, Himalaya, and Pamir Mountain ranges of Pakistan create formidable areas in the northern regions, bringing hundreds of thousands of tourists annually. Tourism has an encouraging influence on Pakistan’s economic growth and contributes to reducing poverty. Despite its importance, the country’s tourism industry still needs development. Many tourism sites lack proper road transport, hoteling, accommodation, transport, and rental equipment etc.

The government has started construction work on Kalash valley road to facilitate domestic and foreign tourists. The unique culture of Kalash is famous all over the world and has become a significant tourist attraction. However, due to the poor condition of the roads in the valley, domestic and foreign tourists face many difficulties. Sometimes, the 22 km road takes nine hours to travel due to its narrowness and dilapidated condition. Therefore, constructing roads in the valley is the need of the hour as it will promote inclusive growth and encourage tourism. Pakistan is a hidden gem and one of the most unexplored countries. By developing the tourism industry, Pakistan can emerge as the world’s top destination.
