Provincial Government Approves Human Development Projects Worth Rs 41 Billion

The Punjab Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved several projects for various sectors worth Rs 41 billion. These sectors include health, roads, and housing. 

Four development schemes have been approved for the Secondary Healthcare and Medical Education and the Physical Planning and Housing sectors, with an estimated cost of Rs6.25 billion. Furthermore, six schemes for the roads sector with an estimated Rs35.45 billion have also been included in the upcoming Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). These schemes have been approved in the 71st meeting of the PDWP for the current fiscal year 2021-22.

The schemes included the upgradation of the Thalassemia Unit and Bone Marrow Transplant Centre at the Bahawal Victoria Hospital, the construction of a water supply scheme with a new tourist spot at Kahuta, and the dualisation of the road from Chiniot to Pindi Bhattian Interchange. In addition, the Rehabilitation of the Urban Sewerage Scheme for Gojra and the construction of a dual carriageway from Old GT Road Gujrat to Lakhanwal are also included.

Human development is a social and economic process that generates unlimited energy through education, health, nutrition, and an improved standard of living. An Improved human development sector focuses on increasing economic growth and improving people’s living standards. To boost the long-term economic growth rate, the incumbent government is pursuing investments in human development schemes to improve reproductive and general health and enhance educational attainment.
