SBP launched Easy Data portal for access to financial data

Efficient, timely, and reliable data distribution is a core process of central banks worldwide. Open data availability encourages informed decision-making by households, firms, governments, academics, and other stakeholders, including financial market participants.

Like other central banks, the State Bank of Pakistan provides economic and financial data to all stakeholders. At the same time, it continuously makes concerted efforts to enhance the data coverage, quality, and availability.

To make its data accessible to all stakeholders; the SBP has announced plans to launch the Easy Data Portal. A data portal with an intuitive and user-friendly interface offering time-series data – in an online and personal event attended by market analysts, academics, senior bank officials, and other participants. The portal currently hosts economic and financial time series data on more than 7,000 variables from 100 datasets covering monetary, external, real, debt, and interest rates.

The Data offers an intuitive and user-friendly interface and contains time-series economic and financial data most relevant to central banking. Starting with a dashboard of critical economic and financial indicators covering different areas, the portal helps users visualize data through interactive charts. It also allows users to create a personal basket of indicators. It also offers selected time series data compiled and distributed by other national organizations, regulators, and trade and manufacturing associations.

Furthermore, the portal will make the SBP an accountable and outward-looking organization and bring the transparency, accountability, collaboration, and independence required to run the economy more efficiently. The portal will benefit students and researchers to utilize the most relevant data on Pakistan’s economy in their research.

Eventually, the Easy Data Portal has reduced the efforts to scroll through a thousand websites with a hundred tabs open to finally get all the data in one place by giving access to a wide range of local financial and macroeconomic data on a single platform.
