Towards a Brighter Tomorrow: Key Enablers of Pakistan’s Vision 2047

Pakistan Vision 2047 rests on six pillars identified as the pillars of growth. These pillars will lay the foundation for structural reform towards a prosperous future by the year 2047. However, there are prerequisites to development, also known as ‘key enablers’, without which any strategy cannot yield optimal results. Developing a clear and strategic vision is crucial to effecting long-term changes, and tangible results define the success of a vision.

Shared Vision

Developing a clear vision and effectively communicating it allows all stakeholders to understand the bigger picture and how to best contribute to a shared mission. A vision for a country is defined as a future significantly better than the present time. An inspiring vision encourages people to collectively take action and fosters a willingness to sacrifice personal interests for the country’s greater good. A shared vision sparks innovation, effort, and creativity among individuals. The objective is to awaken and direct people’s efforts, resources, and expectations toward the pillars of growth that will enable the achievement of developmental goals. People must take responsibility for their shared destination, as change begins with the people. The father of the nation, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, believed that Pakistan’s strength lies in the solidarity, unity, and discipline of its people. All Pakistanis need to share a strong sense of nationalism and contribute positively to the process of change. Only then will it be possible to achieve the goals envisioned under Vision Pakistan 2047.

Political Stability & Continuity of Policies

No country has experienced success without political stability and continuity of policies. It is a common prerequisite for development. In working toward achieving a collective vision, there should be smooth transitions of governments, which will further strengthen political stability. To make the vision a success, active support and participation from the government and democratic institutions are essential. National consensus must be followed to ensure longer periods of economic and political stability, which greatly impact the country’s growth, human development, and income generation. Vision 2047 strives to provide an institutional map to policymakers and other stakeholders to endeavor toward designing reforms and policies that can be monitored and analyzed to reach political stability in Pakistan.

Peace & Security

Vision 2047 acknowledges that peace and security are fundamental to achieving growth. Since Pakistan came into existence, it has faced unique challenges that have disturbed peace and security. Pakistan has friendly relations with neighboring countries and always supports “peace with dignity” with a policy of zero conflict. Maintaining good relations is important to ensure national security, as Pakistan has faced many security challenges in the past and continues to face them at present. Terrorism and extremism have tarnished the country’s image, resulting in economic losses. Hence, Vision Pakistan 2047 seeks to create a safe environment that protects the lives and rights of all citizens. Importance must be given to integrating peace-building assessments to enhance security and stability in the country.

Greater Commitment

Greater commitment is key to development and growth. A vision is incomplete without commitment and implementation of its objectives. To sustain the commitment of Vision 2047, organizational structures must be designed to motivate communities and successfully implement policies related to economic development, health, security, and politics. Committing to country-level implementation of global and regional strategies will empower socio-economic and political representation, participation, leadership, and engagement of young people and women.

Strategic Investments

Vision 2047 provides a long-term vision to help the country prepare for the future. It is beneficial for citizens to have stability and predictability from a clear vision and its implementation. When a country takes on a project, it prepares itself for the future and requires strategic investments. Pakistan Vision 2047 acknowledges investing in education, healthcare, science, research, and development while envisioning their future impacts on the country. Strategic visions require major investments that take time to show their full benefits; hence, the investments must be progressive and bring transformational change to the country.

Balanced Development

Strategy Development is a continuous process, and the driving force behind proper development and planning is skilled, knowledgeable, and trained human resources. Public participation helps with the proper mobilization of means and resources for development. Moreover, natural, financial, and human resources must be exploited to unleash the true potential of our country. Entrepreneurship is an important driver of economic growth and innovation; hence, human resources must be prioritized to progress in development.
